Procter & Gamble Facing Mixed Investor Sentiment Ahead of Q4 Results, UBS Says
Jul 22, 2024 9:33 AM

12:07 PM EDT, 07/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Procter & Gamble ( PG ) is likely to deliver fiscal Q4 earnings in-line with consensus estimates, but investor sentiment is "mixed and has become more debated" recently, UBS said in a note emailed Monday.

Bulls argue that the company's market share performance is still strong and its organic growth will accelerate even as top-line growth has lagged some peers recently, while bears believe that Procter & Gamble ( PG ) shares are expensive compared with those of rivals with similar growth levels, the investment firm said.

"We see merits to both arguments and do not anticipate 4Q to be a positive catalyst for shares, but in an environment where visibility is limited, we have high conviction in [Procter & Gamble ( PG )] being able to deliver on-algorithm growth in FY25, which should drive continued outperformance in our view," UBS said.

UBS estimates Q4 EPS at $1.37 and organic revenue growth at 3% when Procter & Gamble ( PG ) reports its earnings on July 30, while most investors are forecasting organic growth for the company of between 3% and 3.5% for the quarter.

The investment firm said the bar for Procter & Gamble's ( PG ) organic growth has been lowered in recent weeks as US trends have slowed down compared with Q3 and European-tracked channels have normalized against challenging comps. Also, commentary linked to China and SK-II indicate trends remain weak, the note said.

UBS maintained Procter & Gamble's ( PG ) $191 price target and buy rating.
