09:38 AM EDT, 03/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Redwire ( RDW ) said Tuesday that it's launching a partnership with Eli Lilly ( LLY ) for a second spaceflight mission that will use Redwire's ( RDW ) pharmaceutical manufacturing platform PIL-BOX.

During the mission, Lilly researchers will conduct an experiment to boost the discovery of drugs against chronic diseases, Redwire ( RDW ) said.

The first mission showed that microgravity is favorable for insulin crystal growth and the researchers will use the second one to "expand their understanding of crystal formulations and how they impact overall drug discovery and development," Redwire ( RDW ) said.

The latest project will be launched onboard a SpaceX cargo resupply mission for NASA to the International Space Station, the company said.
