Road Safety Watchdog Probes 1.4 Million Honda Vehicles Over Potential Engine Failures

01:55 PM EST, 11/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Honda Motor ( HMC ) is facing an investigation of more than 1.4 million vehicles following reports of severe engine issues, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday.

The probe covers Honda ( HMC ) models from 2016 to 2020, including the Pilot, Odyssey, Ridgeline, and Acura's MDX and TLX. The investigation focuses on potential failures of connecting rod bearings in the 3.5-liter V6 engines, which could lead to "complete engine failure," according to NHTSA.

Honda ( HMC ) recalled certain production models of these vehicles, but the Office of Defects Investigation will review the recall's overall scope and assess severity of the defect other vehicles that had not been recalled.

Honda Motor ( HMC ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
