05:18 PM EDT, 08/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Sagicor Financial ( SGCFF ) Wednesday after-hours said second-quarter core earnings surged and updated its 2025 guidance.
Core earnings jumped 82% to US$46 million, or US$0.34 per share, from US$25.3 million, or US$0.18, in the prior-year period. The company said the increase reflected strong performance at each of its operating subsidiaries.
Sagicor's core return on equity rose to 18.9%, from 10.9%. It has a Group LICAT ratio of 141%.
The company also said core earnings for 2025 are now expected to be US$120 million to US$130 million.
Sagicor will pay a quarterly dividend of US$0.0675 per share, on Sept. 17.
"All of our operating segments generated excellent insurance results, resulting in record core earnings to shareholders. New business production was solid across each of our segments. Our U.S. subsidiary continued to grow and surpassed $6 billion of total assets for the first time. Our Canadian business continued to show strong profitability and its contribution reflected the benefit of a recovery in the Canadian dollar. And both of our Caribbean segments showed robust profitability, reflecting the progress the team has made in our initiatives to enhance those businesses," said Chief Executive Andre Mousseau.
Sagicor shares closed up $0.14 to $7.55 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
