11:23 AM EDT, 04/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Saia ( SAIA ) shares were down more than 19% in recent Friday trading after the company reported Q1 earnings and operating revenue that missed estimates from analysts polled by Capital IQ.
The company reported Q1 earnings of $3.38 per diluted share, up from $2.85 a year earlier. Analysts polled by Capital IQ expected $3.46.
Operating revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was $754.8 million, compared with $660.5 million a year earlier. Analysts polled by Capital IQ expected $771.7 million.
Separately, Saia ( SAIA ) said its chief financial officer, Douglas Col, will retire after 10 years with the transportation company. Col will remain as CFO until a successor is named, the company added.
