Samsara Shares Fall After ITC Rules in Favor of Motive Technologies in Patent Dispute
Sep 9, 2025 12:12 PM

02:42 PM EDT, 09/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Samsara (IOT) shares fell 9% in recent Tuesday trading after the company lost a US International Trade Commission patent infringement case against rival Motive Technologies.

Motive said Tuesday in a statement that Judge Doris Johson Hine of the ITC ruled that the company did not infringe any valid Samsara patent claims.

"Samsara falsely accused Motive of patent infringement in the ITC to stifle competition and disrupt our business," Motive Chief Legal Officer Shu White said. "But they failed."

Samsara said in an emailed statement to MT Newswires that Motive engaged in practices "that go beyond healthy competition."

The ITC ruling found that Motive's artificial intelligence dashcams and gateways did not infringe on Samsara's patents, and the full commission is expected to review the decision, FreightWaves reported Tuesday, citing the ruling.
