SAP, OpenAI Collaborate to Deliver Sovereign AI for Germany's Public Sector

11:25 AM EDT, 09/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- SAP (SAP) and Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI will launch the "OpenAI for Germany" initiative to bring SAP's enterprise applications expertise and OpenAI's artificial intelligence technology to the public sector while ensuring data sovereignty and strict security compliance, the companies said Wednesday in a joint statement.

Launching in 2026, OpenAI, SAP and Microsoft will integrate AI into public sector workflows to streamline tasks like records management and data analysis, allowing employees to focus more on citizen services, SAP and OpenAI said.

SAP, OpenAI, and Microsoft leaders hailed the collaboration as a major advance in applied AI for government, emphasizing trust, safety, and Azure-powered compliance and resilience, according to the statement.

SAP and Microsoft shares were up 1.5% and 0.3%, respectively, in recent trading.
