01:37 PM EDT, 05/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed Friday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) decreasing 0.5% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) up 0.2%.

In corporate news, Lyft ( LYFT ) shares jumped 24%. The company unexpectedly swung to a Q1 profit amid double-digit gains in gross bookings, while it also forecast continued growth for the key metric in the ongoing three-month period.
