10:37 AM EST, 02/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Shell (SHEL) said Tuesday it has resumed production at the Penguins field in the UK North Sea with a floating production, storage, and offloading facility.
Shell is the facility operator with a 50% stake, and NEO Energy owns the other half, the company said. The previous export route for this field was via the Brent Charlie platform, which ceased production in 2021 and is being decommissioned.
Peak production is estimated at around 45,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, Shell said. Penguins will also produce enough gas to heat around 700,000 UK homes per year.
Shares of Shell were up over 1% in recent trading.
