06:54 AM EDT, 10/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Starbucks ( SBUX ) said Thursday it added two new farms in Guatemala and Costa Rica that will study new hybrid coffee varieties.

The Costa Rica farm will "explore the use of mechanization, drones, and other technologies," while the Guatemala farm will replicate a smallholder farming design, Starbucks ( SBUX ) said.

The company added that it is planning future farm investments in Africa and Asia.
