05:38 AM EST, 12/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Starbucks ( SBUX ) workers' union representing over 10,000 baristas said its members will strike at stores in Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle for five days starting this Friday over pending conflicts related to wages, staffing and schedules, news outlets reported Friday, citing the Workers United union.
The union, which represents employees at 525 Starbucks ( SBUX ) stores across the US, said the walkouts will escalate daily and could reach "hundreds of stores" by Christmas Eve, according to the reports.
"[W]e refuse to accept zero immediate investment in baristas' wages and no resolution of the hundreds of outstanding unfair labor practices," Workers United President Lynne Fox said in a statement cited by Reuters.
Talks to reach a resolution between the company and the union started in April and Starbucks ( SBUX ) said it is ready to continue negotiations but claimed that union delegates prematurely ended the bargaining session this week, the reports said.
Starbucks ( SBUX ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.
