08:06 AM EDT, 10/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Steel Dynamics ( STLD ) said Thursday that it has set a 2050 emissions intensity target of 0.12 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per metric ton of hot rolled steel produced.

The company also set an interim 2030 emissions intensity target of 0.80 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per metric ton of hot rolled steel produced, which it said is 15% lower than the emissions produced during the company's 2022 base year.

Steel Dynamics ( STLD ) said the targets are intended to keep it in line with the Paris Agreement, which aims to to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
