Stellantis to pause production of Jeep's two top-selling US models, WSJ reports
Sep 6, 2024 12:46 PM

(Reuters) - Jeep's parent company Stellantis ( STLA ) is pressing pause on making two of its top-selling U.S. models, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

Factories temporarily stopped producing the Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUVs in the past week, the report added citing people familiar with the matter.

Stellantis ( STLA ) did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Stellantis ( STLA ) confirmed "production adjustments" at two Detroit assembly plants that make the Grand Cherokee, and another factory in Toledo, Ohio, where the Wrangler is produced, in a statement to the Journal.

On Tuesday, the automaker named Bob Broderdorf who was its Ram brand operation's senior vice president and head of sales operations at Dodge, as the head of Jeep North America.

In July, U.S. auto safety regulator opened a recall query into 94,275 Jeep Wrangler 4xe hybrid SUVs manufactured between 2021 through 2024.
