11:02 AM EDT, 03/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- T Stamp ( IDAI ) said Friday that the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit concluded on March 7 that age verification imposition for access to pornography does not breach the First Amendment.
The court said that biometric age estimation through a facial image is permitted under the legislation and does not pose a privacy threat than in-person age verification, according to the AI-powered solutions provider.
The appeals court argued that the benchmark for review should have been a "rational-basis" and age verification may be taken into account for restrictions on minors for accessing pornography, T Stamp ( IDAI ) said.
The court partially overturned a prior injunction on the Texas House Bill put by a district court in August, the company added.
