March 6 (Reuters) - Telehealth firms Teladoc
and LifeMD ( LFMD ) said on Thursday they had signed an
agreement with Gifthealth, the pharmacy partner of Eli Lilly's ( LLY )
direct-to-consumer site, LillyDirect, to offer patients
the weight-loss drug, Zepbound.
Telehealth companies have previously offered compounded
versions of weight-loss treatments when the drugs were in
shortage.
However, with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration removing
the popular drugs from its shortage list, compounding pharmacies
will no longer be able to sell the cheaper copies in the coming
months.
Last week, Lilly cut the price of Zepbound vials by $50 or
more and expanded the range of doses sold online through
LillyDirect.
The agreement with Gifthealth allows eligible members to
gain access to single-use vials that can be delivered directly
to their homes, Teladoc said.
