10:43 AM EST, 11/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Terrestrial Energy ( IMSR ) expanded its contract with Springfields Fuels, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric, for the design and construction of its Integral Molten Salt Reactor fuel pilot plant in Preston, UK.

Financial details weren't disclosed.

The expanded contract builds on an August 2023 agreement and "includes a wide range of commercial-scale fuel services, such as deconversion, fabrication, packaging and transportation," at the nuclear fuel manufacturing site, Terrestrial said Wednesday in a statement

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026. Upon completion, the facility will be positioned to scale toward commercial fuel production for a future fleet of small modular nuclear plants, the company said.

Terrestrial shares rose 14% in recent Wednesday trading.
