Tesla Settles Case of Apple Engineer Killed in 2018 Autopilot Crash
Apr 9, 2024 4:38 AM

07:16 AM EDT, 04/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) on Monday settled a liability lawsuit by the family of an Apple ( AAPL ) engineer who died in a crash while using his Tesla vehicle's Autopilot feature, media reports said.

Terms of the settlement, filed at a court in San Jose, were sealed, according to the reports.

The case concerned the 2018 death of Walter Huang, who perished after his Tesla Model X sport utility vehicle turned into a highway barrier while using the driver-assistance feature.

Huang's family contended that Tesla's software was behind the crash, while Tesla said Huang abused Autopilot by playing a video game while using a feature that requires constant driver attention, the reports said.

Tesla did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
