12:31 PM EST, 11/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a motion in a Texas District court on Wednesday to prevent Kenvue ( KVUE ) from paying a Nov. 26 dividend and also sought an injunction to stop it from marketing Tylenol as safe for pregnant women.
The motion comes days after Paxton sued the Tylenol maker and its former parent company, Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ ) , in an attempt to hold them accountable for marketing Tylenol to pregnant women despite knowing links between the drug's active ingredient, acetaminophen, and autism and other disorders in children, according to a statement.
Kenvue ( KVUE ) faces penalties worth billions of dollars, and paying dividends could make the company insolvent when it is compelled to pay the charges in the future, according to Paxton.
A Kenvue ( KVUE ) spokesperson told MT Newswires in an emailed response that the company is taking legal action to stop the plaintiffs' attorneys representing the state from driving "these reckless and scientifically unsound theories."
The spokesperson described the actions as "politically and financially motivated," and warned of "detrimental" impact on public health for its customers in Texas.
