12:12 PM EDT, 10/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tonix Pharmaceuticals ( TNXP ) shares were up more than 12% in recent trading Thursday after the company said it received its first payment from the Defense Department's Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

The payment is part of an award announced in July of up to $34 million over five years to develop broad-spectrum antivirals.
