In company news, Microsoft ( MSFT ) , OpenAI and Nvidia ( NVDA ) will be the subjects of antitrust investigations over their dominant roles in the artificial intelligence industry, The New York Times reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources. The Justice Department will lead the investigation into Nvidia ( NVDA ), while the Federal Trade Commission will probe OpenAI and Microsoft ( MSFT ), according to the report. Shares of Microsoft ( MSFT ) were down 0.6%, while those of Nvidia ( NVDA ) were down 1.7% near noon.
Robinhood Markets ( HOOD ) acquired Bitstamp, a cryptocurrency exchange, for about $200 million, Robinhood announced Thursday. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2025, the company said. Shares of Robinhood were up 6.1%.

Starbucks ( SBUX ) and Grubhub on Thursday announced a partnership that will bring Grubhub delivery to US-based Starbucks ( SBUX ) customers. Starting this month, Starbucks Delivery with Grubhub will be available to select markets in Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Illinois. Availability in all 50 states is anticipated to begin in August, the companies said. Starbucks ( SBUX ) shares were up 1.5%.

Meta Platforms ( META ) is facing complaints filed by noyb, an advocacy group, in 11 European countries over its reported plan to use personal posts and images of its users for artificial intelligence, the group said Thursday.
