12:17 PM EDT, 06/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US stock indexes were mixed in late-morning trading Thursday, as investors await another pivotal jobs report on Friday morning.

In company news, Microsoft ( MSFT ) , OpenAI and Nvidia ( NVDA ) will be the subjects of antitrust investigations over their dominant roles in the artificial intelligence industry, The New York Times reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources. The Justice Department will lead the investigation into Nvidia ( NVDA ), while the Federal Trade Commission will probe OpenAI and Microsoft ( MSFT ), according to the report. Shares of Microsoft ( MSFT ) were down 0.6%, while those of Nvidia ( NVDA ) were down 1.7% near noon.

Robinhood Markets ( HOOD ) acquired Bitstamp, a cryptocurrency exchange, for about $200 million, Robinhood announced Thursday. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2025, the company said. Shares of Robinhood were up 6.1%.

Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), the world's largest electric-car-batter maker with ties to Ford Motor ( F ) and Volkswagen, should be added to an import-ban list, a group of Republican lawmakers said in two letters sent to the Biden administration, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. The legislators said that CATL, as well as Volkswagen-backed battery company Gotion High-Tech, allegedly used forced labor within their supply chains and should be added to an entity list under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, according to the report. Shares of Ford were down 0.3%.

Starbucks ( SBUX ) and Grubhub on Thursday announced a partnership that will bring Grubhub delivery to US-based Starbucks ( SBUX ) customers. Starting this month, Starbucks Delivery with Grubhub will be available to select markets in Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Illinois. Availability in all 50 states is anticipated to begin in August, the companies said. Starbucks ( SBUX ) shares were up 1.5%.

Instacart's (CART) board of directors approved a share repurchase program with the authorization to buy up to an aggregate of $500 million of the company's common stock, according to a regulatory filing Thursday. Shares of the company were up 8.3%.

Lyft ( LYFT ) said Thursday it expects a gross bookings compound annual growth rate of about 15% from full-year 2024 to full-year 2027. The target was released as part of the company's first investor day, which is taking place Thursday. Lyft ( LYFT ) also said it expects an adjusted EBITDA margin of about 4% on a full-year basis in 2027. Free cash flow conversion, measured as a percentage of adjusted EBITDA, is expected to be over 90% annually each year from 2025 to 2027. Shares of Lyft ( LYFT ) were up 2.3%.

Meta Platforms ( META ) is facing complaints filed by noyb, an advocacy group, in 11 European countries over its reported plan to use personal posts and images of its users for artificial intelligence, the group said Thursday. The complaints, filed after Meta informed users in Europe about its new privacy policy, asked data protection authorities in 11 countries to initiate an urgency procedure to stop the execution of the new policy before June 26, according to noyb. Meta shares were up 0.4%.
