11:37 AM EDT, 07/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The S&P 500, Dow Jones and Nasdaq Composite were up slightly in late-morning trading Monday as President Donald Trump threatened more countries with tariffs over the weekend.

In company news, Tesla (TSLA) Chief Executive Elon Musk said Monday he doesn't support a potential merger between the electric-vehicle maker and his startup xAI, which owns the Grok generative artificial intelligence chatbot. Tesla shares were up 0.3% around midday.

Huntington Bancshares ( HBAN ) has entered into an agreement to acquire Veritex ( VBTX ) in an all-stock deal valued at $1.9 billion, the companies said Monday. Under the terms of the deal, Huntington will issue 1.95 shares for each outstanding share of Veritex ( VBTX ). The deal, expected to close in early Q4, implies $33.91 per Veritex ( VBTX ) share, the companies said. Separately, Huntington reported preliminary Q2 earnings of $0.34 per share, up about 13% from the year-ago period and above the FactSet consensus analyst estimate of $0.33. Preliminary Q2 net interest income was $1.5 billion, 12% higher than the year-ago quarter and above the FactSet consensus estimate of $1.46 billion. The company said it expects to report Q2 results on Friday. Huntington shares were down 2.1%, while those of Veritex ( VBTX ) were up 19.1%.

Kenvue ( KVUE ) said Monday its board has appointed director Kirk Perry as interim CEO, effective immediately. Perry succeeds Thibaut Mongon, who left the company and stepped down from the board. Kenvue ( KVUE ) shares were up 0.9%.

Becton Dickinson's ( BDX ) biosciences and diagnostic solutions business has agreed to combine with Waters (WAT), the companies said Monday. The deal is structured as a Reverse Morris Trust transaction valued at about $17.5 billion. BD shareholders are expected to own about 39% of the combined entity. Becton Dickinson ( BDX ) shares were down 1.6%, while those of Waters were down 11.5%.

Autodesk ( ADSK ) is no longer pursuing an acquisition of PTC (PTC), Bloomberg reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. Autodesk ( ADSK ) shares were up 5.1%, while those of PTC were down 2%.

India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation has ordered an inspection of fuel switches on all Boeing ( BA ) 737 and 787 aircraft operating in the country, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing a statement from the regulator. A fuel-switch cut off is considered a key reason behind the crash of an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner on June 12, according to the report. Boeing ( BA ) shares were up 1.5%.
