11:37 AM EDT, 06/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) said Monday that its Toyota Motor North America unit has collaborated with Pepco on vehicle-to-grid, or V2G, research for battery electric vehicles using a Toyota ( TM ) bZ4X in Maryland.

The project aims to study technology that enables electric vehicle owners to not only charge their car batteries but also contribute power to the local energy grid, the company said.

The main goal is to learn about EV owners' charging habits and vehicle usage to promote the adoption of V2G technology, the company added.

Shares of Toyota Motor ( TM ) were about 1.4% down in recent trading activity.
