06:50 AM EST, 02/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Rohit Chopra said Saturday in a post on social media platform X that his term as CFPB Director has concluded.

CNN reported Saturday, citing an unnamed source that, the White House informed Chopra on Saturday morning that he was fired. According to the outlet, Chopra was criticized by Republican lawmakers for imposing restrictions on financial institutions in favor of consumers.

The CFPB declined to comment when inquired by CNN.

CFPB did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
