01:30 PM EDT, 06/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Uber Technologies ( UBER ) said Thursday it will select up to 175 participants in the US and Canada to give up their personal car and instead use alternate forms of transportation as part of its "One Less Car" trial.

The company said it will provide the participants with $1,000 to use alternative transportation options to get around. The options include car-free offerings like public transit, Lime e-bikes and e-scooters bookable in the Uber ( UBER ) app, plus car rentals, and rideshare.

The trial will run from July 22 to Aug. 25 in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C., Miami, San Francisco, Toronto, and Vancouver, Uber ( UBER ) said. It partnered with the Behavioural Insights Team to measure the impacts.
