07:53 PM EDT, 07/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Hundreds of UK petrol stations are being investigated for failing to report live price changes to the government's Fuel Finder price comparison system, Chancellor Rachel Reeves said, PA Media reported Tuesday.
The Competition and Markets Authority has issued hundreds of warning letters to noncompliant businesses, Reeves said, according to the report.
PA Media said its analysis of Fuel Finder data found many sites have not provided any petrol prices despite the requirement being mandatory for more than five months, with 1,751 sites last submitting a price change more than a week ago, including 96 with no update for at least a month.
Reeves said the CMA has assured her it will issue fines if businesses continue failing to report price changes, according to PA Media. All UK forecourts have been legally required to report price changes to the database within 30 minutes since Feb. 2.
