UK watchdog investigates Global Payments' $24 billion purchase of Worldpay

Sept 16 (Reuters) - Britain' Competition and Markets

Authority (CMA) on Tuesday launched a merger inquiry into Global

Payments' ( GPN ) $24.25 billion acquisition of Worldpay,

assessing whether the deal could potentially lessen competition

in UK markets.

The CMA has set a deadline of November 11 to reach its Phase

1 decision.
