01:14 PM EDT, 07/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- United Airlines (UAL) said Wednesday it has begun purchasing sustainable aviation fuel for use at O'Hare International Airport in Illinois.

Starting from August, Neste will supply up to 1 million gallons of SAF to United at O'Hare in 2024, the company said.

SAF can lower greenhouse gas emissions by up to 85% from its production to end use, and can be used with existing infrastructure, it added.
