Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $12.29.
Revenue for the quarter ended Sep. 30 was $4.23 billion, up from $3.99 billion a year earlier.
Analysts polled by FactSet expected $4.16 billion.
The company raised its full-year 2025 total revenue guidance to between $16 billion and $16.2 billion from $15.8 billion to $16.1 billion previously. Analysts expect $16.04 billion.
The company maintained its quarterly dividend at $1.79 per share, payable Nov. 26 to holders of record Nov. 12.
Shares of United Rentals ( URI ) were down 5.2% in after-hours trading.
