Update: Amazon Planning to Test Fast Commerce Operations in India

Amazon's ( AMZN ) India subsidiary said Tuesday it plans to begin testing quick commerce operations in India to deliver groceries in 15 minutes or less.

"We will soon be starting a pilot to give our customers a choice to get their everyday essentials in 15 min or less," Samir Kumar, country manager of Amazon's ( AMZN ) India subsidiary, said in a statement to MT Newswires.

The offering will face competition from both local and global rivals, including Walmart ( WMT )-backed (WMT) Flipkart, which has already launched fast-delivery services in India, news reports said.
