Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Prime Day 2024 was its biggest ever, with record online sales and more items sold during the two-day event than any previous Prime Day, the company said Thursday, with Adobe Analytics estimating a total spend of $14.2 billion.
The July 16-17 event's sales growth of 11% over last year also helped retailers offer deals to customers looking for deep discounts, Adobe said.
Adobe had projected a 10.5% increase in Prime Day sales this year to $14 billion.
As expected, Adobe said back-to-school shopping helped drive sales growth during the event, with spending for products such as backpacks, lunchboxes, stationery, and other school/office supplies up more than 200%, while kid's apparel spending soared 165%.
Shares of Amazon ( AMZN ) were down 1.7% in recent trading.
