Update: BQE Water Jumps 7.3% as It Wins a Contract to Build Water Treatment Plant for the Valley Tailings Facility

11:53 AM EDT, 08/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- BQE Water ( BTQNF ) late on Thursday said it won a contract from Elsa Reclamation & Development to design, supply, install and commission a new water treatment plant for the closure of the legacy Valley Tailings Facility near Mayo, Yukon.

The facility is located on the traditional territory of the Na-Cho Nyak Dun First Nation. The plant will treat water generated during tailings excavation and consolidation and discharge treated water into the environment under the water use license and applicable laws and environmental standards.

BQE will implement the new treatment system including engineering design, equipment procurement, site installation, commissioning and start-up of the plant. It is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025. No value for the contract was disclosed.

The company's shares were last seen up $4.00 to $58.50 on the TSX Venture Exchange.
