11:53 AM EDT, 08/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- E3 Lithium ( EEMMF ) said Tuesday it is partnering with Boston-based Pure Lithium to produce lithium metal batteries in Alberta.
The companies agreed to advance the design of a lithium-metal anode and battery pilot plant in Alberta, as well as complete a preliminary economic assessment of a commercial lithium metal battery facility that will use Pure Lithium's technology and E3's lithium concentrate.
E3 noted Pure Lithium has been using E3's lithium concentrate to produce lithium metal cells that have higher energy density than today's lithium-ion batteries, and do not contain nickel, cobalt or graphite.
"Integrating the E3 (direct lithium extraction) flow sheet with Pure Lithium's electrodeposition technology shows significant promise to deliver low cost, sustainable batteries that would be industry leading," E3 chief executive Chris Doornbos said.
The company's shares were last seen up $0.19 to $1.47 on the TSX Venture Exchange
