Update: EnerSys Shares Drop After Fiscal Q1 Outlook Falls Short of Expectations

EnerSys ( ENS ) shares were down more than 14% in recent trading Thursday, a day after the company reported fiscal Q4 results that were better than expected while its outlook for fiscal Q1 was below analyst expectations.

The company reported late Wednesday fiscal Q4 adjusted earnings of $2.97 per diluted share, up from $2.08 a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $2.78.

Net sales for the quarter ended March 31 rose to $974.8 million from $910.7 million a year earlier. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $972.7 million.

The company said it expects fiscal Q1 adjusted diluted EPS between $2.03 and $2.13 on net sales of $830 million to $870 million. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect $2.41 and $907.8 million, respectively.
