Ford Motor ( F ) is recalling 254,640 sport utility vehicles in the US due to an issue with the image processing module A software, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a notice Monday.
The software may "unexpectedly reset", causing loss of the rearview camera image and advanced driver assistance features, which may increase the risk of an accident, the regulator said.
The NHTSA said the recalled SUVs include certain 2022-2025 Lincoln Navigator, 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus, 2025 Lincoln Aviator, and 2025 Ford Explorer.
The software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update without any charges, the NHTSA said.
A Ford spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email overnight that the automaker will offer a software update for about 254,640 model year 2022-2025 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Nautilus, Navigator, and Aviator vehicles in the US and federal territories.
"Starting March 30, owners will have the option to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to complete the software update," according to the spokesperson.
