Ford Motor ( F ) must face a proposed class action lawsuit alleging the automaker violated the California Invasion of Privacy Act, or CIPA, by allowing a third-party software vendor to record chats between consumers and Ford customer support agents.

Plaintiff Rebeka Rodriguez sufficiently pleaded that Ford aided and abetted its vendor LivePerson Inc.'s violations of anti-eavesdropping provisions within the CIPA, the US District Court for the Southern District of California said Tuesday.

Ford declined to comment to MT Newswires.
