Update: Market Chatter: Amazon's Nvidia-based Systems to Come Online in Early 2025, Later Than Originally Planned
Oct 17, 2024 12:24 PM

03:12 PM EDT, 10/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with response from Amazon ( AMZN ), Nvidia ( NVDA ) in the last paragraph.)

Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) cloud computing unit expects to bring online new systems running Nvidia's ( NVDA ) Blackwell chips in early 2025, later than originally planned, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing the unit's chief executive.

Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman told Bloomberg in a televised interview that Nvidia's ( NVDA ) timelines had shifted after a production change.

"It'll probably be next year before we get production samples in real volume," Garman was quoted as saying in the interview.

AWS was due to bring online Blackwell-based products by the end of 2024 but The Information reported in August that Nvidia ( NVDA ) was delaying the chips due to design flaws, with shipments not due until Q1 2025.

Amazon ( AMZN ) and Nvidia ( NVDA ) declined to comment when contacted by MT Newswires.
