AT&T ( T ) and Verizon (VZ) confirmed that they were hit with cyber attacks from China-linked Salt Typhoon, but their networks were now secure, Reuters reported Saturday, citing the companies.
An AT&T ( T ) spokesperson told MT Newswires that, based on its investigation, China targeted a few individuals of foreign intelligence interest.
The spokesperson said that the company only identified a few cases of compromised information and was actively monitoring and addressing potential threats to customer data.
Verizon also reported no ongoing threat in its network, saying that after extensive work, the company has contained the attack, according to Reuters.
Reuters said the Salt Typhoon operation reportedly targeted officials linked to the presidential campaigns of Vice President Kamala Harris and President-elect Donald Trump.
Verizon did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
