12:40 PM EDT, 06/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Boston Beer's ( SAM ) comments in the fourth paragraph.)
The Chief Executive of Green Thumb Industries, Ben Kovler, sent a letter to Boston Beer ( SAM ) founder and Chair Jim Koch Sunday looking to discuss a potential merger, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing the letter, which it has seen.
In the letter, Kovler described the possible benefits of a merger, such as allowing Green Thumb to get a listing on a major US exchange, the report said. Green Thumb is currently listed in Canada and over-the-counter in the US.
Also, the combined company would be able to launch innovative products in categories like prerolled joints, edibles and drinks and would have more resources to seek M&A deals, Kovler said in the letter, according to the report.
Boston Beer ( SAM ) declined to comment to MT Newswires.
Green Thumb didn't immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
