May 16, 2024 8:07 AM

10:03 AM EDT, 05/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Lazard's ( LAZ ) response in the fourth paragraph.)

Goldman Sachs ( GS ) has hired two investment bankers, Kerry Burke and Eddie Rubin, as part of its plan to strengthen its advisory business that focuses on advising on deals of up to $2 billion, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the company.

Burke will join the firm in August from Evercore ( EVR ) , while Rubin joined the bank last month from Lazard ( LAZ ) , the report added, citing Goldman.

"Our people who are doing middle-market deals are excited about the entrepreneurial aspect of the business - they deal with family-owned businesses, founder-run businesses, sponsor portfolio companies and companies that are growing rapidly. This is all highly attractive business for GS," Reuters quoted David Friedland, a partner at Goldman, as saying.

Lazard ( LAZ ) declined MT Newswires' request for comment, while Goldman and Evercore ( EVR ) did not respond.
