Jun 13, 2024 12:57 PM

03:22 PM EDT, 06/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with additional details in the third and fourth paragraphs and MT Newswires' attempt to reach companies for comment in the fifth paragraph.)

Netflix ( NFLX ) has been reaching out to broadcasters this week as it seeks to secure a production partner for the NFL games it will air on Christmas Day this year, CNBC reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Netflix ( NFLX ) has contacted broadcasters that currently air NFL games, including Disney's ( DIS ) ESPN ( DIS ), Comcast's ( CMCSA ) NBCUniversal and Paramount Global's ( PARAA ) CBS Sports, the people told the news outlet.

The streaming company will air two games this year and at least one matchup in both 2025 and 2026, CNBC reported.

Disney ( DIS ) will not produce the games as they clash with existing college football commitments, two people reportedly said.

Netflix ( NFLX ), Disney ( DIS ), Comcast ( CMCSA ) and Paramount did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
