Nvidia ( NVDA ) is nearing a $30 billion investment in Microsoft ( MSFT ) -backed OpenAI instead of the longer term $100 billion investment commitment hammered out last year, the Financial Times reported, citing unnamed people with knowledge of the matter.

The latest commitment is part of a new funding round on track to raise more than $100 billion for OpenAI and value the company at $730 billion, the report said.

The talks over the investment could be concluded as early as this weekend, the report said.

An Nvidia ( NVDA ) spokesperson declined to comment. OpenAI did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
