Southwest Airlines Company ( LUV ) expects only about 20 of the 46 planes it had been promised by Boeing ( BA ) to be delivered this year, Reuters reported Friday, citing unnamed sources.

Boeing's ( BA ) overall deliveries fell by half in March as production of 737 MAX slowed over concerns about quality.

The delivery shortfall will put pressure on Southwest ( LUV ), which flies only Boeings. The company originally counted on receiving 85 Boeing MAX jets this year, Reuters reported.

"We remain in close contact with Boeing ( BA ) as the manufacturer continues to refine its delivery schedule," Southwest ( LUV ) said in a statement to MT Newswires.

Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
