Jul 30, 2024 2:30 PM

05:13 PM EDT, 07/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Starbucks' ( SBUX ) response in the third paragraph.)

Starbucks ( SBUX ) experienced an outage on its mobile app, impacting users' ability to place orders amid issues with Microsoft's ( MSFT ) Azure cloud service, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed person familiar with the matter.

The reported outage, mostly restored by Tuesday afternoon, led to customers being advised to order in person with around 1,400 users reporting problems, particularly in major cities like New York, Chicago, and Boston.

"Earlier today, some customers were briefly unable to access the mobile order and pay feature in the Starbucks ( SBUX ) app due to a third-party system outage," Starbucks ( SBUX ) spokesperson told MT Newswires. Stores are open and the company is addressing where there are technical issues.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
