Update: Market Chatter: Target Weighs Tweaking Dress Code Rules for Store Workers
Mar 20, 2026 12:42 PM

03:17 PM EDT, 03/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with the company's response in the fourth and fifth paragraphs.)

Target ( TGT ) is planning to change its dress code for store employees, requiring them to wear plain red shirts with blue jeans or khakis, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Current guidelines allow graphics or designs on tops and non-blue denim, the report said, adding that if employees opt for the company-provided red vest, they still can wear any sleeved shirt.

The update is slated to be implemented this summer and aims to bring more consistency across the company's operations, according to Bloomberg.

A Target ( TGT ) spokesperson confirmed the Bloomberg report to MT Newswires.

The company is focused on getting back to growth and as part of that focus, Target ( TGT ) is continuing to create a more consistent, recognizable in-store experience, the spokesperson said in an emailed response.
