Uber Technologies ( UBER ) is being investigated by New Jersey's attorney general over the frequency of sexual violence during rides and the company's handling of such incidents, The New York Times reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The attorney general's office issued a subpoena to Uber ( UBER ) in September seeking internal data about sexual assaults and misconduct, including information about training policies and actions the company did and did not take to address incidents, the report said.
The inquiry focuses on whether Uber ( UBER ) committed consumer fraud and whether Uber's ( UBER ) safety and consumer safeguards aligned with user experiences, the report added.
New Jersey's Office of the Attorney General declined to comment, while Uber ( UBER ) did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
