The US Federal Trade Commission is asking Amazon.com ( AMZN ) for details on a deal to hire senior executives from artificial intelligence company Adept, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed source familiar with the matter.

On June 28, Adept said on its website that its Chief Executive David Luan and other employees were joining Amazon ( AMZN ). Adept also said at the time that Amazon ( AMZN ) was licensing its agent technology.

The FTC inquiry may not result in an official probe or regulatory action, Reuters reported.

Amazon ( AMZN ) declined to comment in reply to a request sent by MT Newswires.

The FTC and Adept didn't immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
