08:00 AM EDT, 05/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Disney's ( DIS ) response to a request for comment.)
Walt Disney ( DIS ) notified workers under Temporary Protected Status on Tuesday that they had been placed on unpaid 30-day leave and would need to provide new valid work authorization by the end of the period, or they will be fired, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing an internal communication it viewed.
The move comes after the US Supreme Court on Monday revoked protections for 350,000 Venezuelans, according to the report.
"As we sort out the complexities of this situation, we have placed affected employees on leave with benefits to ensure they are not in violation of the law," a Disney ( DIS ) spokesperson told MT Newswires via email. "We are committed to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of all our employees who may be navigating changing immigration policies and how they could impact them or their families."
