Update: Maxeon Solar Sues SAC Solar Over Alleged Cell Technology Patent Infringement
Apr 22, 2024 12:46 AM

03:29 AM EDT, 04/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with a response from REC Solar in the last paragraph.)

Maxeon Solar Technologies ( MAXN ) said Friday it has initiated a patent infringement lawsuit against REC Solar Holdings in the Eastern District of Texas.

The lawsuit concerns alleged infringements of Maxeon's Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact solar cell technology, the company said.

"Intellectual property infringement sits alongside injurious dumping and subsidy-driven excess global production capacity as an unfair trade practice that distorts markets," said Maxeon's Associate General Counsel Marc Robinson.

In an email to MT Newswires, REC Solar said it had only just learned of the lawsuit through the media and had not yet formulated a response.
