Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) said Tuesday that its weight loss drug Wegovy is now available in India as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management.
Wegovy, or semaglutide, is expected to be available in pharmacies by the end of the month in five dosing strengths, with the 0.25 milligrams, 0.5 mg and 1 mg versions priced at 4,336.25 Indian rupees ($50.71), multiple news outlets reported, citing the company's India Managing Director Vikrant Shrotriya.
The launch followed months after Eli Lilly ( LLY ) started marketing its rival drug Mounjaro in India.
Eli Lilly ( LLY ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
