US Sen. Bernie Sanders, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, said Tuesday the committee will vote on June 18 to subpoena the president of Novo Nordisk Inc., Doug Langa, to provide testimony about why his firm charges up to 10 to 15 times more for Ozempic and Wegovy in the US compared with other countries.

In an emailed response to MT Newswires, Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) said it has responded and cooperated every time a request was made.

"On multiple occasions, we have communicated our CEO's willingness to testify and offered several dates for a hearing. Based on our continued cooperation, we feel that issuing a subpoena is unnecessary," Jamie Bennett, director of Media Relations and Issues Management at Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) said.

"We are committed to a hearing that aligns with the Chairman's established committee practices and to developing meaningful solutions to enhance patient access and affordability," Bennett added.
